"Shepherd's Christmas" begins with our first lamb. We got spots!

Last night at feeding, it was so beautiful out that I couldn't resist relaxing out in the paddock and spending some quality time with the girls. Everyone tucked into their hay with the exception of Shelteringpines Arabesque, who picked at her feed.
Arabesque then wandered off by herself into a calf hut, where she periodically peered out, grinding her teeth with her tail sticking straight out. I gave the girl her privacy for a few hours, then came out to check up on her. Imagine my delight when my flashlight beam picked up some bright white out in the grass!
So we are off to a good start! A lovely moorit yuglet sokket ewe lamb, strong as an ox. Sire is Eragon. I plan on retaining her unless she develops horn buds. Yippee!!

Thank you Sabrina!

Oh, in case anyone is interested, the dame Arabesque will be for sale after weaning this little one. I've got what I wanted out of her. She does NOT carry polled.

Congratulations! She's beautiful and yay for spots! Let's hope she inherited a polled gene! A very nice addition to the cause!

yay Juli! a moorit, spotted, possible poll carrier ewe lamb! just what you wanted!

I never know if you are happier at getting polled boys, or girls that might carry polled. Either way it is good :)

What a handsome ewe Juli. She sets up perfectly for one so young...and all on her own; a sure sign of great potential. She almost looks modified...what are you seeing? Way to start a season!

Absolutely Lovely!!

We had our first today as well...a black ram lamb. Waiting patiently for lambs similar to yours to be born!!

Congrats on a beautiful ewe lamb!!

Thanks everyone!!

Cynthia, not sure about her fleece yet, she's got some halo hairs but I notice a lot of times those go away. Arabesque herself has a higher SD than I like, but she's certainly not bad for a 3 year old spotted ewe!

What a perfectly beautiful, HST ewe lamb! Congratulations Jules! Oh, she is going to be SO flashy racing around the pasture with all your other babies...

I'm happy for you!

Thanks Nancy! She sure will stand out in the crowd. I sure hope she carries polled. :)

Congrats Juliann! She's VERY sharp! :-) Don't those spots just "set off" the other colors? completes the picture.
